Fluctuations of everyday 
fall through the grates
that hold the weight
of heroic quest: 
a sequence of mundane limitations
and responsibilities
checked off
or stacked up
for tomorrow, 

leaving its afterimage
of limitations,
small pleasures,
and being home.
